Thiago Romero

A contemporary self-taught artist since 1997, Thiago has developed a unique and distinctive technique of painting. In defining his work as "abstract expressionism", the search for geometric shapes, letters and numbers is a constant in his production, characterized by a vibrant, expressive and spontaneous approach, obtained by the rapid application of different shades of paint mixed with water and other elements.
Thiago launched into visual arts casually, but was inspired to pursue painting professionally during his first job as a journalist in Brazil with "Metropolis" show in TV Cultura. While reporting on the arts for the TV show, he was introduced to artists of different styles and schools when they visited the studio for live interviews, to promote the exhibition of their works. His exposure to these new artistic concepts and processes was a great influence on him.
Thiago balances his love of fine arts with action sports. While he paints almost every day in Florida, he also fills his days with skydiving, kite surfing, wake boarding, surfing, snowboarding and scuba diving.
Thiago Romero - artist, skydiver, writer, and journalist, was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and worked for 15 years with some of the most influential media companies in the country (including TV Globo, TV Cultura, Folha de S. Paulo and The State of São Paulo Research Foundation). As a journalist in Brazil, he wrote more than 1,200 articles about science, technology, and innovation for the FAPESP agency and magazines such as "Época", "Pesquisa FAPESP", "Superinteressante" and "Revista Trip".
